UNCC Suspends Three Fraternities Accused Of Violating Hazing Policies

CHARLOTTE, NC — UNC Charlotte is suspending three fraternities for hazing.

The University’s Office of Student conduct says Delta Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Phi Sigma Kappa have had their registrations suspended after incidents that happened this fall.

Delta Chi is accused of providing alcohol to minors and committing acts of harm. They are suspended until August of 2021.

Lambda Chi Alpha and Phi Sigma Kappa are under investigation by the Office of Student Conduct after being formally charged with alleged violations of the Code of Student Responsibility. As a result of the suspension, the fraternities must cease all activities both on and off campus pending the outcome of the investigation.

A report regarding hazing allegations against Lambda Chi Alpha was received on November 2, 2017, according to school officials, and a similar report on Phi Sigma Kappa was received on December 4th.

The University says they’re proactive in educating and training students about anti-hazing in conjunction with national regulations and University policies.  Those UNCC policies regarding hazing can be found at https://legal.uncc.edu/policies/up-406 and https://legal.uncc.edu/policies/up-405.
