CHARLOTTE, NC — The NCDOT says bridge demolition will force multiple closures that will impact nightly traffic on both inbound and outbound Independence Boulevard as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction.
Street Closure Notice: Charlottetowne Avenue on-ramp to
East Independence Boulevard
Closure dates: December 8, 2017 to December 12, 2017
Charlottetowne Avenue on-ramp to East Independence Boulevard from East 7th Street to East Independence Boulevard will close on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 8 p.m. and will re-open on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 12 p.m. Motorists can detour using East 7th Street, Monroe Road, Washburn Avenue and Television Place/Briar Creek Road. This closure is necessary for the lining of a storm drain pipe on Hawthorne Lane by Charlotte Storm Water Services. This closure is being coordinated with an adjacent NCDOT bridge rehabilitation project that is closing lanes nightly on I-277 and the CityLYNX Gold Line Project.

Charlottetowne Avenue on-ramp to East Independence Boulevard (Nightly Closure) from East 7th Street to East Independence Boulevard will close on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 p.m. and will re-open on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 5 a.m. Motorists can detour using East 7th Street, Monroe Road, Washburn Avenue and Television Place/Briar Creek Road. This closure is necessary for bridge demolition as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction. There is an intermittent daily closure the week of December 13, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge demolition as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction

Closure dates: December 10, 2017 to December 13, 2017
Independence Boulevard (Westbound Nightly Closures) from Eastway Drive/Wendover Road to I-277 will close on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 11 p.m. and will re-open on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 5 a.m. Motorists can detour using Eastway Drive, Central Avenue, North Kings Drive and East 4th Street. This closure is necessary for bridge demolition as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction. This is a NIGHTLY closure of the westbound (inbound) Independence Boulevard from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. This project is being coordinated with an adjacent NCDOT bridge rehabilitation project that is closing lanes nightly on I-277.

Independence Boulevard (Eastbound Nightly Closures) from I-277 (John Belk Freeway/Brookshire Freeway) to Briar Creek Drive will close on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 p.m. and will re-open on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 5 a.m. Motorists on John Belk Freeway can detour using Charlottetowne Avenue, East 7th Street, Washburn Avenue and Television Place/Briar Creek Road. Motorists on Brookshire Freeway can detour using East 4th Street, McDowell Street, East 7th Street, Washburn Avenue and Television Place/Briar Creek Road. This closure is necessary for bridge demolition as part of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 construction. This is a NIGHTLY closure of the eastbound (outbound) Independence Boulevard from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. This project is being coordinated with an adjacent NCDOT bridge rehabilitation project that is closing lanes nightly on I-277.
All of these roads will be closed to all through traffic during their closures. CATS will not be affected.
