Couch Chat: Defining Sexual Harassment

We’re talking about bringing sexual harassment laws into the 21st century. In 1986, the U.S. Supreme Court lumped sexual harassment into the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Now attorneys argue the definition is too vague because it hasn’t been redefined in 53 years. Federal Law defines sexual harassment as ‘unwelcome verbal, visual, non-verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, that is severe or pervasive and affects working conditions or creates a hostile work environment.’

Is this too vague? What should be added?
