Deputies Seize Nearly 80 Grams Of Heroin During Union County Drug Bust

UNION COUNTY, NC — Deputies arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday afternoon after seizing nearly 80 grams of heroin during a narcotics operation.

Jason Jenkins was arrested after detectives stopped him in a Monroe Walmart parking lot Tuesday. Officials say they were alerted to the scent of narcotics by the Union County Sheriff’s Office K-9 “Yugo.”

Detectives say they found heroin, marijuana, and two handguns, one of which had been reported stolen, following a search of Jenkins’ vehicle.

Jenkins is charged with two counts of Trafficking in Opium or Heroin, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.
