CMPD Charges Man for Involvement in Sexual Assault of Children

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Detectives with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit have charged Angel Mario Guzman Lobo, for his involvement in the sexual assault of children.

On November 13, 2017, detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit were notified by patrol officers regarding an investigation concerning a sexual assault that involved a female child.

During the investigation, the victim advised that Lobo forcibly fondled her on multiple occasions in 2014 and 2015. Detectives determined that Lobo had a significant transient history and would rent rooms from various people he met. The investigation revealed that Lobo was renting a room from a family in the 8400 block of Reames Road and became a care giver to children, when the assault occurred. During the investigation, detectives determined two additional children were sexually assaulted during the same time frame however those charges are still forth coming.

Additional information and evidence gathered during the investigation led detectives in signing warrants for Lobo’s arrest.

On December 14, 2017, Lobo was located and arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters and subsequently transported to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently in custody.

Lobo has been charged with 10 counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child and 10 counts of First Degree Sex Offense.

The Crimes Against Children Unit is currently working to determine if there are additional victims.
