Patrons Are “Pouring” In To Try Charlotte’s First Self-Serve Bar In South End

CHARLOTTE, NC –A brand new concept has  Charlotteans “pouring” into the South End area. It’s  called Hoppin’, a self serve craft beer and wine bar.

In one of the fastest growing cities in the country, new, hip and trendy spots are sprouting up everywhere. So far, people seem to be approving of their different approach to having a beer.

At Hoppin’ here’s how it works: you pick your beer, wait for the green light and drink. The work day came to an end, and dozens are flocking to this old warehouse. With your ID and card, Hoppin’ creates a profile for you, so you can keep track of what you drank and how much, with just a tap of a wristband.

“The technology piece of it is the first of it’s kind in Charlotte. We have 50 beer taps, and 12 wine taps,” say co-owner Rich Moyer.

Hoppin’ oozes quirkiness. From their eclectic art work, to the corn hole and darts. Owners say it’s on purpose. No bartender and that means no lines.

“I can take my time to decide on a beer rather than being stressed out when you’re with a bartender,” says Hoppin’ patron Ryan Beckner.
