Officials say there were no injuries reported during a fire that broke out in a trash compactor on the hospital’s loading dock. The fire initially triggered a second alarm as a precaution, according to officials, but was canceled shortly after.
Residents in the area reported seeing smoke from blocks away, but officials say there was no damage done to the main body of the hospital or patient centers. An official with the hospital says the damage was only to the exterior of the building and did not impact areas inside.
