Officers Save Family From Burning Home
MONROE, NC — We’re learning more about the rescue that saved a Monroe family trapped inside a burning home.
Police say a home on Lexington Avenue caught on fire around two o’clock Tuesday morning. Officer Corey Helms arrived first, and
saw a woman with her head sticking out the the second story window, but the doors were locked. So she tossed the keys to him.
Another officer, Dylan Cole, showed up and the pair ran in, saving three kids and two adults.
Monroe fire officials say a baby bottle left boiling on the stove caused the fire.
