New Law Limits NC Patients’ Access to Opioid Pills
RALEIGH, NC — North Carolina’s top health officials are working to tackle the opioid crisis.
A new law, which will go into effect on New Year’s Day, will limit how many opioid pills patients can get at once.
About three people die every day of drug overdoses in North Carolina.
Under the new law, doctors will only be able to give out five days worth of opioid pills for acute pain, or 7 days worth after surgery.
