Season Ticket Owners Could Lose Out From Panthers Sale
The key to keeping the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte could be a new place for the team to play.
An editorial in Thursday’s Charlotte Observer makes the case for city leaders to at least entertain the idea and set aside half-a-billion dollars for another stadium.
But more than 62-thousand of the seats in Bank Of America Stadium belong to season-ticket holders who purchased a Permanent Seat License.
Many PSL owners are long-time Panthers fans who helped finance Bank Of America Stadium and could lose their investment.
That’s because the contract on their seat is tied to the stadium, not the team.
Charlotte forked over more than $87-million in 2013 to renovate Bank Of America Stadium.
Still, a new owner could see the shortage of parking in Uptown Charlotte and the stadium’s lack of a roof as a reason to build something better.
