CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have hired Norv Turner to replace Mike Shula as offensive coordinator.
Turner has coached 32 years in the NFL, most recently as the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive coordinator from 2014-2016.
“Norv has coached Hall of Famers, he’s set a lot of people on the career paths that they’ve had,” said head coach Ron Rivera. “I’m excited about his knowledge and his offensive prowess. It’s going to be invaluable to us have him evaluate our personnel and help take our quarterback to another level.”
Norv Turner has held three head coaching positions in his career. He was the head coach in Washington(1991-1993), Oakland(2004-2005) and San Diego(2007-2012). Turner has a 56-40 regular season record.
Turner also served as offensive coordinator for Dallas (1991-1993), San Diego (2001), Miami (2002-2003), San Francisco (2006) and Cleveland (2013).
