CHARLOTTE – One of the all-time great Panthers will play just one more season.
Linebacker Thomas Davis on Friday night announced the 2018 season will be his last. The news comes four days after he admitted he’ll likely play a “reduced role” next year.
Davis, who will turn 35 in March, will forever be known as the first NFL player to come back from three anterior cruciate ligament tears in the same knee and as the 2014 Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Through 12 seasons, Davis is the Panthers’ all-time leading tackler with 1,163. Carolina’s 2005 first-round pick also ranks seventh with 13 interceptions and eighth with 28 sacks.
