March And Wreath Laying Ceremony Honors MLK Day In Uptown

CHARLOTTE, NC — Hundreds marched through Uptown Monday to honor and remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The march ended with a wreath laying at Marshall Park. Mayor Vi Lyles was in attendance, and says it’s important to live the words that Dr. King spoke and to come together to fight inequality.

Lyles says she hopes to set an example as the first African-American woman mayor in Charlotte.
