Agencies All Around Charlotte Are Prepping For The Frigid Air And Slippery Roads
CHARLOTTE, NC– Forty Charlotte DOT trucks are on the road and will work all throughout the night. Agencies all around the city are prepping for the frigid air and slippery roads.
Tuesday, Charlotte DOT crews layered the city streets and interstates with brine.
“The ice is the scary part because it’s slick, cold, very cold. You can’t even really walk in the ice,” says resident of West Charlotte Terrence Williams.
North Carolina Highway Patrol says bridges and overpasses are expected to be extra slick, and black ice could coat roads–a huge concern for residents.
“It’s very dangerous. You never know where you going to find it at, where it’s going to be, you have to be cautious at all times,” says Marian Davis, who lives in South Charlotte.
In anticipation for the storm, Mecklenburg ems has extra dispatchers on standby. For those who use public transportation, CATS says buses will be operating at a regular schedule. CMPD is urging drivers to slow down and give yourself some extra time, and stay off the roads if you can.
