Deputies Arrest Two Teens Armed With A Handgun, AR-15 During Possible Drug Robbery
UNION COUNTY, NC — Two teenagers were arrested Monday afternoon after deputies found them outside an Indian Trail home, armed with a handgun and stolen AR-15.
Around noon, police say residents reported two suspicious males wearing skull masks and walking around a home on Chelsey Lane in the Sandalwood neighborhood. Responding deputies found one of the teens armed with a loaded handgun, along with a stolen AR-15 rifle, ballistic vest, and marijuana inside their vehicle.
No one was inside the home, deputies say, but they did find a stolen handgun, baggies of marijuana, THC extract, and drug paraphernalia. A package from California also arrived while deputies where searching the home that contained nearly 450 grams of THC extract.
Investigators say they believe the two teens, Josue Martinez, 18, of Marshville, and Kevin Arant-Melchor, 17, of Monroe, were trying to rob the homeowner, 21-year-old Zachary Phifer, when they were interrupted by deputies.
Martinez is charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Breaking and Entering, Possession of Stolen Goods, and Simple Possession of Schedule VI.
Arant-Melchor is charged with Breaking and Entering and Simple Possession of Schedule VI.
Phifer is charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sale or Deliver a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana, Simple Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Stolen Goods.
