CHARLOTTE, N.C. — 14 automakers are issuing recalls in order to replace airbags in several vehicle models .
Airbag company Takata stated that “approximately 34 million vehicles are currently under recall for approximately 46 million defective air bags”. Takata also stated that the bags run the possibility of exploding when deployed, causing serious injury.
The company reportedly supplied defective air bags to vehicle manufacturers for years, creating one of the largest and most complex recalls in U.S. history.
Some of the vehicle manufacturers listed include Ford, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Daimler Vans, Toyota, Tesla, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Mazda, Subaru, Jaguar Land Rover, McLaren and Volkswagen.
