Sister Of Missing Four-Year-Old Laurinburg Boy speaks out
LAURINBURG, NC.– Still no sign of a missing four-year-old boy in Eastern North Carolina. It’s been more than 48 hours since an amber alert was issued for Raul Gonzalez Johnson. The FBI has joined the search for the little boy.
WCCB talked to Raul’s older sister who says the last time she saw her brother was right before she went to school. Raul was last seen wearing his pajama’s with no shoes or socks. Search parties spent all day sifting through forest and thick brush in Laurinburg, holding onto hope that they’ll find the little boy.
“Very shy and sweet but he can go up to a stranger and shake their hand and he loves to play with animals and he loves toy trucks he’s just really sweet and innocent,” says Cheyenne Johnson.
A Laurinburg family trying to stay strong tonight as they plea for the return of their brother, son and nephew.
“To stay positive the best way we can, but my mama, she’s the only one that’s really not the strong one out of all of us so we’re just trying to support everybody in our family,” says Johnson.
Multiple departments, including the FBI have joined in the search for the boy. Friday, search parties walked through brush and forest. Police dogs tracked his scent to a nearby pond– but divers didn’t find anything.
Police say the boy’s grandfather was watching Raul and lost track of him Wednesday morning. Neighbors say Raul’s grandfather called him “Billy Bob” as a nickname.
“That’s what his grandfather called him Billy Bob and I’d be like Billy Bob get off that fence and he say hey Miss Louise just the sweet baby,” says Louise Crawford, who lives next door to Raul’s family.
Raul’s family thinks he isn’t lost. As a family hangs onto hope, they say they just want their sweet boy to know that he is loved.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol conducted a road block canvass in the neighborhood to talk to drivers for any information. The FBI is pursuing every possibility and they say they need help from the public. If you saw anything suspicious or out of the ordinary in the area of Village Drive and Crestline Road in Laurinburg on Wednesday morning, you’re asked to call police.
