CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and five Quik Trip Convenience Stores are working together to prevent car thefts.According to the CMPD , auto thefts from keys being left in unattended vehicles are on the rise in the Charlotte area.
232 vehicles were stolen between January 1 and January 21, according to CMPD, and more than 80 of those thefts resulted from “keys left in the ignition” or “keys left in the vehicle.”
