8 NC Lawmakers Are Okay Following Wednesday Morning’s Train Crash
CHARLOTTE, NC — Eight lawmakers from North Carolina were on a train that collided with a garbage truck in Virginia early Wednesday morning. Senator Thom Tillis and Representatives Ted Budd, Virginia Foxx, Richard Hudson, Patrick McHenry and Robert Pittenger are all okay following the crash.
Congressman Pittenger sent pictures of the crash scene to WCCB Charlotte.
The train hit a truck hauling garbage after it stopped on the tracks around 11:20 this morning in Crozet, just outside of Charlottesville. The driver of the truck died, and a passenger has serious injuries.
All of the members of congress who were on the train are fine, including House Speaker Paul Ryan.
Some, who are doctors, tried to help the victims.’
We spoke to Representative Pittenger on the phone, and he says passengers didn’t know what was going on.
