Police Charge Suspect in NW Charlotte Murder Case

CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have charged Willie Devon James Jr. with the murder of 25-year-old Matthew Duke Gibbons.

James, 28, was taken into custody at the scene, without incident, and interviewed by detectives. He has been charged with Murder, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.

Around 8:35pm, police say Gibbons was found shot to death in front of a home on Rhyne Station Road in northwest Charlotte.
