CHESTER COUNTY, SC — One person is dead after troopers say they ran into the back of an empty log truck Wednesday night.
The accident happened around 10:35pm on HWY 9 near Oakley Hall School Road. Troopers say a person driving a 2006 Toyota Highlander ran into the back of 66-year-old Mursier Smith’s 1999 Freightliner tractor-trailer log truck.
Officials say the trailer was empty when the accident occurred, and Smith was not injured.
The unidentified driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to troopers, and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what led to the collision. Check back for updates.
