Police Find Woman Shot, 6-Month-Old Unharmed, In University City Apartment

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after a woman was found shot inside an apartment Monday morning in northeast Charlotte.

The woman’s 6-month-old child was also found inside the apartment but was not harmed, according to police.

The call for service came just after 9:30am on Wexford Meadows Lane.  Upon arrival, officers say they found the woman shot and suffering from life threatening injuries.  She was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.

Detectives say they believe a male suspect forced his way into the apartment and was looking for a subject who was not present when the shooting occurred.

Police say an unoccupied apartment next door was also shot into.

Crime Scene Search responded to the call for service to process the scene and collect physical evidence.

No arrests have been made at this time.
