Original Story:
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A coyote is being tested for rabies after a man videoed the wild animal turning aggressive, baring its bloody teeth, and attacking his car late Saturday night.
John Schroter posted this video to social media showing the coyote wandering around his Huntersville neighborhood. In the video you see the coyote walking along a neighbor’s fence, and attracting the curiosity of a dog on the other side.
Fearing for the safety of pets in the area, Schroter attempted to scare the animal off. That’s when he says it “turned, bared its bloody teeth, and attacked my car.”
Schroter quickly reported the incident to CMPD. Animal Care and Control says they found the coyote a short time later lying injured in a grassy area on the side of the road near Ranson and Dallas Street.
The coyote was transported back to the shelter and humanely euthanized.
AC&C officials say they have not received any reports of the coyote biting any people or pets in the area, but have sent the animal’s remains to a lab in Raleigh for rabies testing in case anyone comes forward.
Officials say those results should be available within the next few days.
