Valentine’s Day Events around CLT with Moira Quinn

CHARLOTTE, NC — There’re lots of ways you can celebrate Valentine’s day with your loved ones in Charlotte. Or, you can kick back, relax, and have a pint for a good cause!

Moira Quinn from Charlotte Center City Partners is making it easy with a rundown of everything you need to know.

4th Annual Free Chocolate day from Chef Alyssa
February 8, 4 – 6:00 p.m. @ Atherton Mill
Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen will be giving away free chocolate and coffee in their cooking space inside of Atherton Mill in South End. There will be hand-dipped caramels, ganache, chocolate covered almonds and other treats. Local pastry chef Jossie Perlmutter of Sweet Affairs Charlotte will be joining Chef Alyssa to co-lead the workshop.

Family Day at the Bechtler
Saturday, February 10 @ The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
Check out several hands-on art activities for art enthusiasts of all ages at this event. Think outside the box by creating Picasso portrait collages in the famous Spanish painter’s cubist style in the Bechtler lobby. Or, continue one of the great art traditions of the season by creating your own Valentine’s Day cards with a modern art flair in the second-floor classroom. Lastly, you can draw your own sugar skulls in the fourth-floor family gallery inspired by the exhibition Maestros Mexicanos de la Fotografía Moderna. Admission to Family Day is free for kids under 18 and $8 for adults.

February 12-14, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., @ Ally Center-440 S. Church St.
Poptopia Valentine’s Day: A Pop-Up Shop is back for 3 days of fun. Stop by the Ally Center lobby to check out the great selection of gift shops just in time for Valentine’s Day and get something for your sweetheart (or yourself!) while supporting local businesses. It’s free to visit and there’s plenty of surprises in store!

February Fridays with Friends
Friday, February 16, 2-10 p.m. @ Blue Blaze Brewing
Join Blue Blaze in raising funds while having fun with your WestEnd neighbors! One dollar of every pint sold on Friday, February 16 will go to the Biddleville-Smallwood Neighborhood Association, Charlotte. Additionally, there will be raffles of a limited edition Blue Blaze Brewing Neighborhood Pride t-shirts. Tickets are $1 and all proceeds go to the Biddleville-Smallwood Neighborhood Association.
