Large, Leaning Tree Causes Closures On Two South Charlotte Roads
CHARLOTTE, NC — A portion of Queens Road West and Norton Road in south Charlotte is closed this evening while crews work to remove a large hazardous tree.
City officials say the large street tree is leaning at the corner of Queens Road West and Norton Road, and presents an “imminent threat and extreme public safety hazard” to drivers. As a result, the inbound lane of Queens Road West and a single lane on Norton Road will be blocked while crews work to remove the tree.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
This closure was initially expected to last past 5pm with both lanes re-opening later this evening. Crews now say there is no timetable for when the roads will completely reopen due to equipment issues on site.
