Suspect Wanted On Several Warrants Arrested In Statesville

STATESVILLE, NC — A man wanted on several warrants, including assault on a probation officer, has been arrested.

Randy Cook, 27, was arrested Tuesday after deputies found him hiding in a closet at a home on Yellowstone Lane. According to reports, a probation officer was assaulted by Cook when he went to the home to check in on him.

When deputies responded to the residence with warrants for Cook’s arrest, another resident let them inside. Cook located during their search and taken into custody.

Cook is charged with Felony Probation and Misdemeanor Probation Violations, Failure to Appear on a DWI, Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Felony Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

While being booked, deputies say they found a bag of marijuana in Cook’s possession and added an additional charge of Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Jail or Prison.

According to records, Cook has history of violent crimes including Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assaulting a Female, and Felony Habitual Misdemeanor Assault.

He has been placed under a $41,600 secured bond.
