CMPD Charges Juvenile After Student Reports Receiving Threatening Messages

CHARLOTTE, NC — A 14-year-old is facing charges after a student at Druid Hills Elementary reported him for sending threatening text messages.

Officials say the juvenile suspect sent threatening messages to the victim Saturday morning after he and she had gotten into an argument on the school bus last week. The texts also included a Facebook picture of the teen holding a handgun, according to reports.

CMPD says the teen was placed under juvenile arrest for Communicating Threats, and released him to a guardian. During a search of the teen’s home, police say they also found the gun seen in the Facebook picture.

CMS has not yet released any information on disciplinary action taken by the district.
