Police Say Gastonia Man Was Stabbed Over Social Media Post

GASTONIA, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man involved in a stabbing in Gastonia.  Investigators say they were called to a home on Stoney Drive on February 18th in regards to a man being stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers found Brandon Carlin, 30, suffering from a stab wound to the chest.  He was taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia and then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte for further treatment.

Police say Larry Brown, 51, has been charged in the stabbing.  Investigators say Brown lives at the Stoney Drive address and is an acquaintance of Carlin, who was reportedly at the house with another family member to pick up a child.

Police say the altercation reportedly stemmed from a prior social media post between the two.  Brown was charged with assault with a deadly with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.  He is currently in the Gaston County Jail on a $300,000 bond.
