Rock Hill PD Charges Teen Who Allegedly Started A Fire In A High School Bathroom

ROCK HILL, SC — A 15-year-old is facing charges after police say he started a fire in a bathroom at South Pointe High School Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the fire was reported around 1:30pm in a second floor bathroom of one of the school wings. The building was evacuated and no injuries were reported.

Investigators identified the juvenile as the suspect and have charged him with Damage to Property. Officials say the case is being petitioned to Juvenile Court, and additional disciplinary action will be taken by the school district. Details of those actions have not been made available at this time.

Police say the fire was out by the time Rock Hill Fire crews arrived, and no additional fires were found. Fans were setup to remove smoke and gases, and students were allowed to return to class to finish the day.
