Dog Dies On United Flight After Being Stored In Overhead Bin
United Airlines is taking full responsibility after a passenger’s dog died during a flight.
The woman had her french bulldog in a TSA approved carrier, but it wouldn’t fit under her seat.
That’s when a flight attendant insisted that she put the carrier in the overhead bin.
The dog’s owner initially protested, but reluctantly agreed.
Passengers on the flight said they heard the dog barking on take off, but it was dead when the plane landed several hours later.
The airline apologized on Tuesday for the dog’s death.
“This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin,” the company said. “We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them. We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.”
United Airlines is agreeing to pay for the dog’s necropsy and refund the price of the passenger’s ticket.
