Casey Parsons Faces Judge in Erica Parsons Murder Case, Sandy in Court Thursday

SALISBURY, NC – Sandy Parsons is back in the Rowan County Jail and is set to face a judge Thursday.

He and his wife Casey, who was in court Wednesday, are accused of murdering their adopted daughter Erica.

Erica Parsons’ biological mother came face-to-face with Casey in the courtroom.

“She looked right, straight at me. And never even blinked an eye. How heartless is that?” Carolyn Parsons asks.

Casey Parsons asked a judge for a court-appointed attorney and said she understood the charges against her.

She and her husband Sandy are accused of abusing then killing their 13-year-old adopted daughter in 2011.

Five years later, Sandy led police to Erica Parsons’ body, buried in a shallow grave in rural South Carolina.

“I wanted to see her. I wanted her to know that I’m still very much here,” Carolyn Parsons says.

She and other family members say they’re ready for justice to be served.

“I hope they get the death penalty,” says Erica’s biological aunt Teresa Goodman.

She says there isn’t enough punishment for the agonizing abuse Casey and Sandy are accused inflicting on the little girl.

“They think they only got it bad here. Wait until they get in front of God. Then they’re really gonna have it bad,” she says.

Also in court was Casey and Sandy’s son Jamie Parsons, who reported Erica missing in 2013.

“It don’t hurt that my parents are gone. It hurts that Erica’s not here,” Jamie Parsons says.

He says being in court Wednesday was very difficult.

“And every time I go through something like this, it reminds me that Erica is not coming home. And it tears my nerves up,” Jamie says.
