Several Suspects Wanted For Albemarle Shooting, Armed Robbery

ALBEMARLE, NC — Police are looking for several suspects they say robbed a group of people at gunpoint outside a home, and then shot a man inside.

The incident happened just before midnight Tuesday at a home on N. Seventh Street. According to reports, several vehicles pulled up in front of the home and roughly five armed suspects forced everyone down on the ground. Police say the suspects then went inside the home and shot Mr. Alvin Currie Sr. in the arm.

The suspects took cell phones, purses, car keys, and clothing, according to police, before taking off.

A friend took Currie to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say one of the suspect vehicles was found abandoned in Albemarle a short time later. It had been reported stolen in Salisbury and was used in a home invasion earlier that same night.
