Police Charge Two Suspects In Connection To Northeast Charlotte Murder Case

CMPD says two suspects have been charged with the February murder of 19-year-old Damien Mackins II.

Mykel Washington, 19, and Andre Kashawn Clark, 19, have each been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

According to investigators, Washington was arrested on Tuesday for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault with a Deadly Weapon related to a crime committed before the murder. He was charged with Mackins murder following an interview with detectives.

Clark was arrested Thursday on warrants related to Mackins’ murder.

The investigation is ongoing.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Damien Alonzo Mackins II.

The case is still under investigation.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are conducting a homicide investigation in northeast Charlotte.  Detectives say a man was found dead on Newell Baptist Church Road.

They were called to the scene just before 10am.  Police say they were responding to a check the welfare call where the caller had located a body in a wooded area adjacent to a church.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.  The man had died from his injuries, according to a news release.
