CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A pedestrian and a dog were killed when they were struck by a vehicle in northwest Charlotte Saturday morning.
Franziska Mair Bruckner, 85, and her dog were both pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the accident occurred at about 9:51 a.m. in Moores Chapel Road.
Police say Bruckner was walking her dog on the sidewalk along Moores Chapel Road when she attempted to cross the street at the Tilden Road intersection and stepped into the path of a 2011 Hyundai Sonatra being driven by 82-year-old Annie Ruth Morgan.
Investigators say Ms. Morgan stopped to render aid and neither speed nor impairment were factors.
There was no marked crosswalk or electronic pedestrian crossing signals where Ms. Bruckner was attempting to cross.
