Cornelius Police Create Safe Exchange Zones For Online Transactions

CORNELIUS, NC — A new Safe Exchange Zone has been established by Cornelius Police Department to help citizens safely conduct online transactions.

The zone is located in the Cornelius Town Hall parking lot at 21445 Catawba Avenue. Police say the area is under 24/7 video surveillance, but cannot guarantee all exchanges will be recorded.

There are two parking spaces available at the location that are identified by painted lines and posted signs. Officials say the Safe Exchange Zone can be used at any time and does not require a sign up or reservation.

Officials warn that the sale of weapons, alcohol, or drugs will not be permitted at the zone.
