Carolina Energy Open Season With 64-25 Win Over Triangle Torch
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte’s new arena football team, the Carolina Energy, kicked off their inaugural season with a 64-25 win over the Raleigh based Triangle Torch.
The team competes in the American Arena League and is co-owned and coached by Ervin Bryson. Bryson is a South Carolina native, who has been involved with arena football for over twenty years as a player and coach.
Bryson says the team is made up of players who played collegiate football in the region and that the players only make about $200 per game, so they are really playing for the love of the game.
The action is fast-paced and the games are high-scoring in arena football because the teams play on a 50 yard field, which is half the size of an NFL field.
Attendance was good for the opening game and hopefully the Charlotte area will continue support the area’s newest professional sports franchise.
