CHARLOTTE, NC — Some neighborhoods surrounding the Charlotte airport could experience an increase in overheard flights as construction forces rerouted landings.
Starting April 9th, Charlotte-Douglas officials say an upcoming construction project to reconstruct portions of Taxiway A will cause aircraft to be rerouted to other runways due to closures. Runway 5/23 will temporarily close for the duration of the project, and Runway 18C/36C will experience intermittent nighttime closures.
Neighborhoods located north and south of the parallel runways may experience more flight noise between 11pm and 7am due to this new pattern.
Officials say the project should be completed by December.
