Gaston County Mother Finds More Than A Dozen Syringes In Her Yard Over The Past Month
GASTON COUNTY– A Gaston County mother terrified to let her children play outside after she says she’s found more than a dozen syringes in her yard over the past month. WCCB Charlotte has learned police are stepping up patrols to stop drug dealers in the area.
Kara Lesperance walks her front yard every day, making sure there are no needles in the grass. Just so her kids can play outside.
“Explaining to your kid, well I’m sorry you can’t go outside and play like normal kids because the drug activity in our neighborhood,” says Lesperance.
Kara says in the past month, she’s found more than 15 syringes in her yard, including on Monday. She says her 13-year-old daughter sent her a text saying that a drug deal was going on near their house.
Gaston County Police say an officer went to Lesperance’s house, but the drug deal was already over.
“It’s a situation where what do you do as a mom? We’re calling the police, making the reports, they’re not getting out here in time to get anything done. The people are leaving.”
Gaston County Police say they’re going to make sure there’s increased police presence in the neighborhood to catch the drug dealers. Kara’s afraid of what could happen if it doesn’t stop.
