SC Lawmaker Wants To Ban Energy Drinks For Anyone Under 18
A South Carolina lawmaker wants to keep energy drinks out of the hands of kids.
He is proposing a law that would make it illegal to sell or give the drinks to anyone under 18.
Lawmakers are taking action after a 16-year-old collapsed in his Chapin, South Carolina classroom a year ago and later died.
The otherwise healthy teen drank an energy drink, a cafe latte and a large diet soda within two hours.
If the law is passed, stores won’t be allowed to sell energy drinks to anyone under 18 and adults who provide the drinks to anyone underage could face a fine of at least $50.
