CHARLOTTE, NC — CMPD says the body of a missing man has been located in northwest Charlotte. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
The body of 20-year-old Jacob Hernandez was found Friday evening in a wooded area on Rhyne Station Road near I-485. Investigators say it appears Hernandez was shot on South Boulevard near Scaleybark Road and transported to the location where his body was found.
Detectives say they are looking for Jaime Joel Melendez Suarez, 18, as the primary suspect. A warrant has been issued for Suarez charging him with Murder.
Hernandez’s family had reported him missing on Thursday, according to officials. Investigators say they suspected foul play and identified Suarez as a suspect.
Prior to Hernandez’s body being found today, a warrant had already been issued on Suarez charging him with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
