Registration is Open for 2018 Keep Pounding 5K
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Have you signed up yet for the 2018 Keep Pounding 5K? Registration is capped at one thousand runners, and last year, the run was sold out.
Since 2003, the Keep Pounding Fund has raised more than $2 million for Levine Cancer Institute and Levine Children’s Hospital. Kids are a big part of the run, and always big part of the Panthers, says Head Coach Ron Rivera.
“We as players, coaches, Panthers, front office personnel, management personnel, we get involved in the community and it just so happens a lot of the things we do involve children,” Rivera tells WCCB News @ Ten anchor Morgan Fogarty.
This year, Luke Kuechly shot the TV commercial for the Keep Pounding 5K with Wrenn, a Levine Children’s Hospital patient. Look for her commercial debut on WCCB airwaves!
Wrenn keeps pounding. The mantra transcends the football field. It helped even Coach’s family, when his brother Mickey was diagnosed and later died from pancreatic cancer. Coach says, “He fought, he fought a very valiant fight. He outlived what they predicted he would. We had a lot more time with him than was initially given to us.” And, “No matter how bad things are, no matter what’s going on, just keep pounding.”
The Keep Pounding 5K is on Saturday, June 2nd. This year, runners will once again run a portion of the 5k inside Bank of America Stadium. Click here for more information.
