CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman has been charged after a pedestrian was struck and killed overnight, while crossing Brookshire Boulevard.
The CMPD saysΒ at 1:45 a.m on April 14, 2018, Β officers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian in the 3600 block of Brookshire Boulevard.
Arriving officers located a motorcycle that had struck a man identified as 25-year-old Roger Denzel Cuthberson Jr.
MEDIC took Cuthberson toΒ Carolinas Medical Center Main where he was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained from the crash.
A witness called 911 and said they observed a black Mercedes Benz with North Carolina plates initially strike the pedestrian and leave the scene, fleeing north on Brookshire Boulevard.
Investigators were able to locate the driver of the Mercedes, Nakia Michelle Phillips, 31, at her residence.
Phillips has been charged withΒ Felony Hit and Run.
Authorities determined Phillips was operating her 2011 Mercedes Benz in the left lane of Brookshire Boulevard near the intersection of Honeywood Avenue and struck Cuthberson as he was crossing the road.
Police say Jeffrey David Nelson, 28, was operating his 1987 Harley motorcycle traveling north on Brookshire Boulevard and hit Cuthberson as he was attempting to get up from the first collision.
Speed and alcohol are not contributing factors for the drivers in this accident. Β Detectives are investigating whether alcohol was a factor for the pedestrian.
