Charlotte Man with Ties to Syria Speaks Out About Airstrikes

CHARLOTTE, NC – Syrian families living in Charlotte have spent years worrying about their families during the ongoing civil war.

Yassin Chickha has lived in Charlotte for more than 20 years.

He has several family members living near Homs and lost his nephew during the ongoing battle against Syrian dictator Bashar Al-Assad.

Chickha tells WCCB Charlotte he strongly supports the coalition’s effort to bomb the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons facilities.

But he says it’s not enough, and that the U.S. should do more to assist the Syrian people.

“We want more action. We want to help the rebels. We want U.S. to really step in and use more force to force the regime to give up, force Russia to move out,” Chickha says.

Chichka says his concern now is that the world will forget about Syria again, and that Bashar Al-Assad will have time to reconstitute his chemical weapons.
