Police Charge Man In West Charlotte Murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have charged a man in connection to a deadly shooting Sunday evening in west Charlotte.

39-year-old Davenon Alexander Farmer was arrested Monday afternoon on Columbus Circle after being identified as a suspect in the murder of 44-year-old William Jacobs.

Following an interview with detectives, Farmer was charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Murder.

Investigators say they received a call shortly after 10pm Sunday in reference to a shooting.  When officers arrived on the scene they located Jacobs suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Jacobs was pronounced dead at the scene.  Police say an initial investigation revealed that Jacobs was inside an apartment on Timberbrook Drive, along with several other individuals, when the shooting occurred.  Farmer fled the scene prior to officers arriving.
