Professor Calls Barbara Bush A Racist In Tweets

A college professor is under fire for calling the late Barbara Bush a racist.

Professor Randa Jarrar still has a job at Fresno State, but the university says it’s looking into her controversial comments.
The news of the former first lady’s death broke about an hour before the professor tweeted this:
Barbara Bush was a generous and smart and amazing racist who, along with her husband, raised a war criminal.

But her attack on Bush didn’t stop there.
She also tweeted: ‘I’m happy the witch is dead’ and responded to critics by saying she is a tenured professor who could ‘never be fired.’

University officials say that’s not necessarily true.

Fresno State President Joseph Castro says: “Just because she’s a tenured professor doesn’t mean that she can do and say whatever she wishes.

Provost Lynnette Zelezny also disagreed with the professor’s claim that she can’t be fired because of tenure.
“Please know that the university is taking this matter very seriously and the incident is under review,” said Zelezny.

Officials say Jarrar made her comments as a private citizen and don’t represent the university.
The university says Jarrar is not currently teaching.
She asked to take a leave of absence before the semester started.
