Drug Dog Sniffs Out Methamphetamine, Other Narcotics During Iredell County Traffic Stop
IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Two men were arrested after a traffic stop in Iredell County led to the discovery of controlled substances and a stolen gun.
On Friday April 13, 2018, Deputy J. Mitchell conducted a traffic stop on the Wilkesboro Highway near the intersection of Bowles Farm Road.
Deputy C. Gregory arrived with canine officer Rex to assist in the stop. Rex performed a search and indicated narcotics were in the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 16 grams of methamphetamine, Hydrocodone pills, Buprenorphine
pills, hypodermic needles and a methamphetamine smoking pipe.
Two handguns were discovered in the trunk and one of them was listed as stolen in Pennsylvania.
David Karis Jr., 28, was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Felony Possession of Schedule II controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), and Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance and given a 7500.00 bond.
The driver, 27-year-old Kenneth Welborn, was charged with Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
