Man Involved In Two-Car Crash In East Charlotte Last Week Dies

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man has died more than a week after police say the vehicle he was driving crossed over the center line and collided with another vehicle in east Charlotte.

According to police, on April 11th, 2018, Jimmy Hamilton, 23, was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer west on Shamrock Drive when his vehicle ran off the road to the right at Farley Street.Β  After running off the road, police say the vehicle drove back onto Shamrock Drive and spun counterclockwise, before aΒ 2003 Ford Expedition traveling east on Shamrock struck the Mitsubishi in the front passenger door.

The CMPD says on April 20th, at 4:45 p.m., Hamilton died from injuries sustained in the wreck.

The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries.

Police sayΒ both drivers were wearing seatbelts and speed and alcohol use are unknown factors at this time.
