CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a student brought a gun to Garinger High School. The student was taken into police custody after the gun was located Monday morning.
The principal sent out the following message to parents:
Good morning Garinger families. This is Principal Gwaltney with an important message. Your child’s safety and security at the school is important to me. This morning, we received a report of a student with a gun on campus. The student was taken into custody by law enforcement. The student will be disciplined according to the Code of Student Conduct and is subject to criminal charges. Please make sure that you speak with your child about appropriate items to bring to school. As always, if you or your student see or hear something that may be cause for concern, say something to me or any school staff member and we will follow up. Thank you for your involvement in your child’s education at Garinger.
