Prom Problems: School Officials Stop Girls From Entering Dance Over Their Outfits

Two girls in two separate states were both stopped from going into their school prom because of what they were wearing.
Both teens say they looked forward to prom night, but only one ended up getting into the dance.

A student in Lafayette, Louisiana was kept from going into her prom last Saturday night.
Officials said her dress didn’t meet school guidelines, which forbids sheer fabric and plunging necklines.
The girl’s sister posted pictures of her dress to Facebook and lots of people couldn’t find anything wrong with what she was wearing.
School officials say the girl was given a chance to fix her dress and get into prom, but she didn’t do so.

Meanwhile, a Tennessee teen did get into her prom, but only after her family scrambled to find a quick fix.
She wore a pantsuit instead of a gown.
The school says it didn’t meet the girl’s dress code, which requires female students to wear a dress.
But her outfit did meet the boy’s dress code, as long as she wore a neck tie.
So the girl’s family bought her a tie from Walmart and she was allowed to go to prom.
