Drug Dealer Charged With Murder After Mooresville Woman Overdoses In Her Car

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A Mooresville man has been arrested after a woman he sold drugs to died of an overdose.

Justin Wayne Kauffman, 24, is charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of 23-year-old Alexandria McNeely.

McNeely was found dead in the Brawley Commons Shopping Center parking lot inside a 2004 Kia Rio on December 3, 2017.  An investigation determined McNeely died of an overdose from counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, sold to her by Kauffman.

Kauffman is also charged with Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, one count of Selling a Schedule II Controlled Substance, one count Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance within 1,000’ of a School, one count of Maintaining a Vehicle for the Purpose of Keeping or Selling a Controlled Substance, and three counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Deputy Chief Gerald Childress stated, “The Mooresville Police Department recognizes the significance of this case. We want our citizens to know we are holding the drug dealers accountable for their role in drug related deaths. Their actions will not go unpunished.”

Kauffman was placed in the Iredelll County Jail with a $700,000 secured bond.
